Shelly Sarig Nadav - MS, MA, LMFT
My training and experience as a therapist includes spending many years treating adults, teens, children, couples, and families in various community clinics in the bay area. I provided counseling at non profit organizations, a human services department, a university clinic, and elementary, middle, and high school settings. I have worked with adolescents and their families within the Palo Alto school district, where I've witnessed first hand the impact that the high achieving environment that we live in can have on our children's emotional health. In recent years I have been mainly working with adults and couples, and providing parenting guidance and support in my private practice in downtown Palo Alto.
My approach is integrative, drawing from various therapeutic models (including cognitive-behavioral, relational / psychodynamic, gestalt, and mindfulness based practices). I work collaboratively with each person and family to create an individualized approach that takes into account the unique character and potential of every individual, as well as their presenting issues. I believe that while life has a way of throwing tremendous obstacles and challenges our way, people have the innate capability and resources to overcome them. I see my role as helping them identify core issues underlying their difficulties, and understand how they pose an obstacle to their emotional health and well being. People also benefit from learning new ways of coping, and of relating to themselves and others, thereby improving capacity for personal and professional relationships and self fulfillment.
Having lived in different countries and cultures, I enjoy working with people of all cultural heritages and backgrounds, and can provide services in both English and Hebrew.
